Sports Car Tail Light Lens Cover Part 4: Flame Polishing and Finishing

Today we are concluding our Sports Car Lens Series with Part 4.  We will be discussing the final steps of the process which are flame polishing, clean up, tape application, and packaging.

We concluded last week with the lens cover parts having been transported to the finishing department where they are visually inspected to be certain they are free of defects.  After that, the routed edges of each part are passed through a hydrogen/oxygen torch flame which removes any tooling marks and gives the parts a smooth edge.

The next step is cleaning the parts so the double-sided tape can be applied after which the parts given a final inspection, bagged, and boxed for shipping.
